Celebrations begin for King's coronation

Posted on: 05 May 23

Thanks to a grant received by Telford and Wrekin Council’s The King’s Coronation Celebration Fund, Lawley Partnership Board have been delighted to organise this Sunday’s parade and fun afternoon.

The weather is looking promising tomorrow with no forecast of rain. Here’s a round-up of the event plans, please note the side road directly in front of the school, Peppermill will be closed between 10:30am – 4:30pm.

Coronation Carnival Parade starts at 12.45pm- Lawley Community groups will gather for a walking parade to celebrate the King’s coronation and open the carnival event. They will start from the Village Green to the Lawley Primary School field in a parade. Telford Concert Band will be playing near the clock tower on the green.

If you would like to watch the parade, you can gather next to Telford Concert Band by the clock tower on the main field of the village green.

If you have limited mobility and wish to watch/join the parade, there is a gate between the two fields of the village green. We would therefore suggest that you join from the Glendale side of the field.
Lawley Primary school playing field gates will open at 1pm and the afternoon timings will be:

1-1.30pm – Welcome from Mawley, Lawley mascot/Visit from Telford & Wrekin Mayor
