New Lawley Community Hub

Posted on: 17 Jul 23

It has been requested by both the Lawley Village Management Committee and fellow residents, that BVT have a more visible presence in Lawley Village. For the past couple of years, we’ve been searching for an appropriate space and we’re delighted therefore to announce we have just signed a long-term lease for the building that was previously occupied by Fodens in the village square.

It’s planned for the space to become the Lawley Village Community Hub and we would welcome input from residents across the village as to how they feel the spaces would work best, whether its for regular community group get togethers or places to meet professionals such as local police, NHS staff. There will be different areas available from an informal café style area, a more secluded booth area to a private meeting room. Over the next 12 months or so, we’ll be taking the lead from residents as to how they want to utilise it the way residents wish too.

In addition to the hub, BVT staff will have a base there and residents can arrange to go in and see them to talk through any queries they have, get advice from one of our teams including energy welfare and money matters officers or get details of all the events being planned.

The spaces will suit a variety of users including:

  • Local community groups
  • Local charities
  • Professional groups/meetings
  • Service providers (e.g. Citizens Advice, NHS, Social services, BVT advisory services)
  • Parent and Baby classes
  • Knit and natter groups
  • Book club

Please get in touch with any thoughts about how the spaces could be utilised and watch this space for further details on when the community hub will officially open.

In the meantime, Nick Freeman, BVT Lawley Village Estates & Stewardship Manager and Jay Haldron, Chair of Lawley Management Committee, talk about the opportunities around the Lawley Community Hub.
